First time? Read this.

It's a board game night in someone's house. It's not weird. But there are a few things worth knowing.

01
Where & when
12639 NW Ally Elizabeth Ct, Portland, OR 97229

A residential house up in Bethany, about 20 minutes from downtown. Doors open at 4 PM and most folks roll in between 5 and 7. Park on the street, anywhere that's legal. The house is the one with all the cars and probably some laughter spilling out the door. Just walk up and let yourself in.

02
What to bring
Nothing, technically. But a few things help.

You don't need to bring anything. But if you want to: a snack, a drink, or a game are all welcome. Food rotates through the kitchen all night as people show up with things. If you bring a game, it'll get played, but only if you want to teach it. So don't bring one you're tired of explaining.

It's always been free. No cover, no donations, no tip jar. Just show up.

03
The cats
Two long-haired cats live here.

One will come say hi. The other prefers to stay out of sight, like a small fuzzy ghost. Both will shed on you regardless. If you have a cat allergy, you'll want to medicate before coming. The whole house is cat territory.

04
Joining a game
"Got room for one more?" works every time.

The hardest thing about a first night is figuring out how to join a table. Here's the trick: walk through the rooms. Watch a few tables for a minute. When you see a game wrapping up, ask "got room for one more next round?" The answer is almost always yes.

You can also browse the games library beforehand and message the Discord saying "I'd love to play X tonight. Anyone in?"

05
A few more things
Logistics nobody talks about.

18+ normal game nights are 18+ only. Special events might be more family friendly. We'll announce those.

Allergies if you bring homemade food, label it with any common allergens (card stands are in the kitchen for this), or ask someone for help labeling. If you have a serious allergen, a heads-up in the Discord beforehand helps too.

Quiet zones if you need to take a call or just sit out for ten minutes, the patios are a good place to slip out to. There's one off the basement common room, and one out the front door. The rooms upstairs tend to be quieter as well.

Leaving before you head out, double-check you didn't leave anything behind. We do have a lost and found if you did, though.

Ready when you are.
